Can I be honest? I've never liked getting my photo taken. I empathize with the awkward body language and fake smiles (check out my official lower school portrait here). And while I love cheese (La Tur and an 8-month Gouda are my dinner party go-tos), I can never seem to say "cheese" and look good in a photo. So my approach to photography creates genuine moments with real people, in my style. TalismanPHOTO Living leaves traditional family* portraiture behind and embraces the whimsy and energy that swirls around you. What makes your family unique (style, environment, your daily routine) is what I love to capture. I believe the best photos are taken when you are surrounded by those you love, in a place that feels like home— with a little direction from a professional =)
*family: any combination of the those you love (including friends, Felix and/or Fido).

I was born and bred in Greenwich Village, with lots of plants and four cats. We are a family of artists, writers, and educators. I started photography in high school (Saint Ann's), studied Cultural Anthropology at Brown University, and have been documenting people’s stories ever since. TalismanPHOTO Living combines my background in photojournalism (New York Daily News, The New York Times) with my years of commercial work (Lincoln Motor Co., Hennessy) and editorial experience (Vogue, Marie Claire).
